Prof Craig Harris
Manchester Health & Care Commissioning , Executive Director, Nursing & Safeguarding
Craig was appointed into the above role early in 2017. Prior to that he was the Executive Director across the 3 Manchester CCGs and held a variety of Clinical Commissioning posts from 2005 to 2012 including Head of Mental Health Joint Commissioning, Associate Director for Joint Commissioning, and Director Lead for Specialised Commissioning.
Craig was awarded an honorary Professor from the Manchester Metropolitan University in 2016 for his contribution to nursing, health and social care.
Craig qualified as a mental health nurse in October 2000 and worked in clinical practice until 2005 where he left full-time clinical practice as the Clinical Lead Nurse Manager for Women’s Forensic Services. Craig has maintained his clinical skills and input into nursing over the years and has sat on a number of different forums including a National Forum for the Royal College of Nursing for nurses within management roles. Craig has also been a Regional Governor on a local Foundation Trust.
Craig is also a Justice of the Peace where he has sat in Manchester for the last 10 years. Craig is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Directors for a user led run organisation for male survivors of abuse; Survivors Manchester.
In his spare time, Craig loves spending time with his 7 year old little boy but also enjoys kick boxing, dog walking and spending time with friends and family.
